Nuts are hard-shelled fruits, which contain seeds that don’t open on their own when they mature. For our purposes, here, NUTS ARE ALL HARD-SHELLED FRUIT:
ALMONDS, WALNUTS, PECANS, BRAZILS, MACADAMIAS, COCONUTS (deserving of they’re own space), etc…
Nuts are superb sources of PROTEIN, FIBER, VITAMIN E, IRON, ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS and POLYUNSATURATED FATS (healthy fat).
*FYI: It’s my personal feeling, that they’re also a great source of VITAMIN D, because they receive it directly from the sun, then store it. I think this is true about many other fruits and veggies, as well. (Even though modern science says the only source for vitamin D is cow’s milk and the sun..LOL~ more on that later.)
*FYI 2: Vitamin & Mineral Naming really peeves me, too!! (A, D, E, Potassium, Iron, etc…) Only do it for the sake of making a point within a common context..SMH.
